about me

Hi there.  I’m Kelly.

I share my nest with my wonderful husband of almost 20 years and our delightful daughter who is currently testing out her bold, beautiful wings in college.

I started this blog at the beginning of my daughter’s senior year in high school.  Let me tell you…letting go is not for sissies.  During the course of last year I have done my fair share of soul searching, over-analyzing, crying, and carrying on.  Letting go has been an extremely hard pill to swallow and I have choked on it from time to time.

But in the course of keeping this blog, I’ve learned a lot about myself.  A few things about me you might be interested to know are –

  • I am a homemaker with a day job
  • I am a sentimental nostalgia junkie
  • I’m happiest when I’m with my family, in the kitchen, or working on a project and making a mess.
  • I love driving with the windows down and listening to classic rock music. (Where I live in Oklahoma that is usually only possible about two months a year.)
  • At any given time, I usually have at least three water glasses going throughout the house.

In addition to being part journal/part therapist, this blog is also my living scrapbook.  It’s here that I love preserving all of my family’s funny quirks and what makes them unique and so very special to me.  It’s also in my blog where I love to document all the silly stories about my life and that of my family and friends – things that make me smile and keep me from taking life way too seriously.  Constant reminders that my nest isn’t really that empty after all.

Mostly though, my blog is a celebration of little things.  Because let’s face it, most of our lives are spent working and grocery shopping and cleaning and laundry.  Doing ordinary things like unloading the dishwasher and feeding the dogs.  But I’m convinced that if we take just a minute to celebrate the ordinary and cherish the little things, it’s then that we notice beauty and humor.  We experience love and Grace.  We find Faith and courage.  And it’s then that we truly begin to appreciate the journey.

Thank you so very much for stopping by.  Welcome to my not-so-empty nest.

Peace, Kelly
